Best way to sneak a photo of a mall or retail.?
I'm doing a photo project for school where I want to take multiple photos in a mall and several retail stores. I know this isn't allowed, so I'm trying to make some kind of disguise for my camera so it wont look too suspicious. I have/am getting a Canon PowerShot A530, with dimensions of Width 3.56 in., Depth 2.52 in., Height 1.7 in.
Does any one have any ideas for a way to hide it, while still being able to set up shots with the LCD view screen, and preferably, room for a small adjustable tripod which would also have to be concealed (and preferably, able to change heights while still concealed.
My idea right now is to keep it simple, have a tall and thin card board box (wrapped in, like, a sears bag so it looks payed for it,) and have appropriately cut flaps in the card board to open and close when needed.
Does any one have any ideas or have any information at all about doing this type of photoshoot? Thanks
i shot for a photo class just yesterday inside the local mall here. you have two ways you can proceed.
one: walk in there nonchalantly with your camera and take pictures like you own the place. if you act like you know what you are doing, people will assume you know what you are doing, and they will let you do it.
two: if this fails, go to the individual businesses where you see a shot you would like to take, tell them that you are in a class, and ask them nicely if you can shoot there. if it is a privately owned store instead of a big chain, tell them that you will give them prints that they can have as either souvenirs or for use in promotional materials. this will generally sway people, especially since a) you are a student, as well as a potential customer in the future, and b) most people are willing to help students out with stuff like this.
