Is ebony wood always black?
I recently bought a bass bow by mail with an "ebony" frog. The bow came and the frog is dark brown with a clearly visible grain, similar to other pictures of bows that I have seen advertised as having rosewood frogs. I have never seen ebony that was not jet black. Is it possible that this really a "light" version of ebony?
