My View on Vokey Spin Milled Black Nickel Wedge
I've been writing a lot of reviews in the last week or two. I have piles of notes that I have taken over the past 4 years on some of the best equipment made for the game of golf. Being a Golf Pro, I get to test everything that comes out at some point during the season and I felt that if there are golfers out there looking to purchase a set, they should find a quick, basic review before paying for them!
Vokey Spin Milled wedge has always been unique products that provide a truly discernible performance option - increased spin. Each wedge design is based on Bob's experience working with the best players in the world, including sole designs hand ground by Bob based on continuous input from Tour professionals.
My method is quite simple for my reviews. I will give a little background info on the company, the basic features of the irons and a summary of what I personally thought when I hit them. I keep it short and sweet, as I feel there is no need to write a 3 page article on golf equipment. As you will find, and hopefully learn in the process, that there are 3 main categories in the golf equipment business.
The new 2009 Vokey Spin Milled series of wedges from Titleist are a line-up from master wedge maker Bob Vokey that represents an ideal blend of technology and craftsmanship. With all the wedges having CAD generated profiles, multiple bounce options and tour inspired sole grinds the player has a matrix of performance characteristics to fit a wide range of styles, course conditions and shot making requirements.
More importantly I know golf equipment. I can go thought the basic motions when testing a club and be able to give you a quick, honest answer regarding the clubs playing characteristics and weather or not it is worth your time trying. All the Titleist wedges are engineered from soft 8260 carbon steel and are milled with Tour-validated technology to ensure that the faces are perfectly flat and the grooves are machined with a special circular saw-style cutting tour as well as the milling of a series of micro-edges for added face friction. All of this adds up to 30% more groove volume that translates to 10% more spin in the dry and an exceptional 85% more control in wet conditions.
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and to give you the basic idea of what I am trying to accomplish here at AC. I want to spread my knowledge with the masses in a short, easy to understand method for everyone to understand.
