Upgrading Drum Kit - lots of questions?
Hey fellow drummers, I'm an intermediate drummer looking to upgrade his kit with about an 1,100 dollar budget. I mainly play Green Day, Blink-182, The Offspring, RHCP, etc.) My ideas were to get the following (let me know if these are good)
1.) Remo Drum Head ProPack (12/13/16 + 14 Emp X snare head)
2.) Pearl 14" Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum
3.) Zildjian Avedis Cymbal Pack (16" Crash, 20" Ride, 14" Hi-Hat and 14" Fast Crash)
4.) Remo Weatherking Smooth White Emperor Bass Drum Head
5.) DW 4002P Double Bass Drum Pedal
6.) Zildjian Avedis 10" Splash
Questions
1.) When I put on the new drum heads, do I need to buy underside ones too, or what? I'm not really sure what to do. Same question for the bass as well.
2.) Is this a good combo for around 1,100 dollars or am I not choosing well?
for your question about drum heads:
i wouldn't say that you would have to get new bottom heads, but if you are playing "mic"ed up more than not, or recording, or just want to get your drums sounding the absolute best, then yes, new bottom heads as well should be taken into consideration.
with new bottom heads, if you were to get single ply remos or any other higher end head, your drums will cut through the music more, and have a more easily controlled resonance.
on one of my drum sets, i have evans general g1's for my resonance heads, and remo abassadors for my batters. it works nicely.
